God is teaching me as well as you.

“Learn to sing in the dark.” I read this on a website about faith today. I think they mean to say that we all have dark times when we don’t see or feel God because we go through sad or difficult things. Or the state of our life is so bad all we can do is cry and be angry with God. And ask why? Why? Why? We may never know why and sometimes it is best for us if we don’t. Matthew 5:45 tells us that it rains on the just and the unjust. But I can tell you that we can learn to sing and worship God during these times. He is still with you. And if we sing loudly and long enough it will help us see Him more clearly. I have been at a point where all I wanted to do is go hide in a closet and not come out again until all my problems went away. But unfortunately, that usually doesn’t happen unless you are present and participating in the situation. But when it’s darkest, that is when God loves to prove Himself worthy. He wants us to see that He is faithful and will stay by our side with His presence with a virtual hug, a friend’s hug or help from your church family.
It’s now the day after I wrote that last paragraph and I’m going to have to read it again and again. I went to the doctor and she told me that my blood sugar average or A1C (some of you may know what that is) is too high. Basically, even though I have been eating a low sugar, low carbohydrate, mostly vegetarian diet, it hasn’t helped. My diabetes is taking over and despite all my attempts to prevent it, I am going to have to go on diabetes medication. I was controlling it for several years with diet alone but that is not doing anymore. So I’m now shaking my fist at God and asking, “Why?” He’s probably not going to tell me and my body is just getting older (closer to 50) and genetics are taking over. And my lack of exercise is not helping either. So now I have to add exercise and medicine to my daily routine, plus some healing prayers. Some praise songs wouldn’t hurt either… so join me, my friends, learn to sing in the dark times. He will never leave or forsake us.
