Galatians 5:22 “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives:love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things.”
It’s the first week of 2017. A new year for us to begin anew and make us the new creations Christ wants us to be. So how can the Holy Spirit help us with that? When I am wanting something within myself to change I ask myself questions. How? what? why? When? So how can we produce more Fruit of the Spirit in 2017? The first and most obvious thing is to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us. But not only to pray generally for those traits in your heart but pray that you can have them when you are dealing with those difficult people in your life. Pray in those moments when you really feel like using harsh words instead. Pray for goodness when there is a stranger who looks like they need help. Pray for gentleness when you want to yell at the kids. Pray for kindness after someone puts you down. Pray for joy when God gives you something to be thankful for. Pray for joy throughout the day so that those around you will see joy in you and ask what gives you your joy. Then you can tell them! Although I’m sure some employers have rules about sharing faith at work, you can ask them to lunch or dinner and tell them, or ask them to church on Sunday.
Another thing we can do to produce fruit is study God’s Word. The Bible is God’s way of communicating with us. And I know we are all busy but there are one minute devotionals that you can read in line while you are waiting for your coffee, or five minute devotionals at lunch time. You could purchase a Bible on CD for the car or Bible apps for your iPhone or Android. Are you really going to tell GOD you don't have time for Him?? Of all the people in the world, He… Click To Tweet God won’t hurt you or let you down. He won’t disappoint you or call you names. God will always stand up for good and never choose the wrong path. You can count on Him to make you feel good and support you in your time of need.
So now you’ve prayed so that the Holy Spirit is with you all day and will help you when you need it. And you have read God’s Word so that you know what His expectations are. I’m sure you have been the recipient of someone’s fruit in your life. Another christian has has given you love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc. So you know how great it feels and now it’s your turn to spread some of that love and joy around to others. Go run the race, and produce some fruit!
I welcome all comments and follows on social media… I cannot love perfectly as God does but I do love you too!
