Tell yourself the truth in love

If you missed week 1 Greatest Love of All, week 2 You are God’s Masterpiece, week 3 Using the Love verses on yourself, week 4 As far as the East is from the West or week 5 Shine your light click on their titles on the right.

This is a quote from Chapter 6:

Whether that means the truth about how you really look in that new dress or how your friend looks in it, it might mean telling that insulting friend that you can’t hang out with her anymore. The truth might be that you have to go to rehab for a drug habit or you have do an intervention for a family member who needs drug or alcohol rehabilitation. Maybe you need to get into the Word more and commit to a deeper relationship with God. What truth do you need to accept to love yourself more? Click To Tweet

When I was 40, the doctor told me I had type 2 diabetes. I am a few pounds more than I should be but not like some who have the disease. Unfortunately, diabetes runs in my family so the genes didn’t give me a choice. For a few years, I was able to control it with just diet and exercise, but now that I am closer to 50, that’s not working. The last time the doctor ordered lab work, my glucose numbers were higher than they should be and I knew she would want to put me on a diabetes medication. I put it off for a few months. But then I began to notice some episodes when my blood sugar was too high and affected me negatively. So I had to admit to myself that if I wanted to live to see my children give me grandchildren, I needed to start taking care of myself better.

Maybe it’s making time to go on dates with your husband. Is it time to go back to church? Maybe it’s time to go to the doctor or commit to eat better and exercise. Or is it time to follow God’s prompting and go on that mission trip or start a blog or video channel on YouTube. God will not send you without giving you the gifts and tools to do His will. Tell yourself the truth in love so that you can be a better person for yourself and those around you.

  1. “God will not send you without giving you the gifts and tools to do His will.” Love, love, love this, Steph! So glad I found you today after you found me via #Faith’n’Friends! Thank you for this powerful truth!

  2. You’re so right – God equips us when he calls us. It’s important to lean on Him and who He is in the word – He is our very present help in time of need.

  3. I agree that we need to look at our lives and tell ourselves the truth in order to make changes. I love that God helps us to see what’s often difficult but gives us the power to change.

  4. Amen! God is so faithful at meeting our needs right on time. So many things I’ve worried I would not be able to handle – I did, with His grace and help. Thanks so much for joining the Link Party at Counting My Blessings!
