What would Jesus do? #2

What would Jesus do after hearing about this shooting in Texas? First of all, I think He would pray for all of the people involved. There was one scene in the media where three people were praying together. We don’t know who they were or what they were praying for but it is the epitome of Christianity, and the first thing we should do when some crisis or tragedy comes into our lives. In Matthew 17 Jesus prayed that the Father would help his followers experience perfect unity and the world will know He sent Jesus.

Second, He would and comforted everyone there with hugs, a pat on the back, or a word of encouragement. Then Jesus would have served the people in practical ways by making phone calls, making meals, driving people places who are in no condition to drive because of emotions or physical problems, visiting the victims in the hospital and many other things I can’t think of, I’m sure.

In addition, Jesus would be helping the law enforcement officers, nurses, and doctors do their jobs. And He would have been compassionate and filled with love and kindness doing all of it. Click To Tweet So friends, think and act like Jesus whenever you can because He made the ultimate sacrifice for you on the cross. And you can thank Him each day for it.

Making lists

Photo by Cathryn Lavery on Unsplash

If you missed week 1 Greatest Love of All, week 2 You are God’s Masterpiece, week 3 Using the Love verses on yourself, week 4 As far as the East is from the West, week 5 Shine your light, week 6 Tell Yourself the Truth in Love or week 7 Be Brave click on their titles on the right.

This is a quote from Chapter 8:

“When you have a problem, a tragedy or trauma, sometimes there’s just not much you can do right away to change the situation. You lay awake at night, stressing about what to do, worrying, thinking and rethinking about what has happened. One thing I have already mentioned you can do is start a gratitude journal. This is a time to use your journal every hour if needed or at least several times a day because this will help you concentrate on God and not the huge problem you are dealing with. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Mt. 6:33)

Another list you can make is a list of things that are out of your control. There are some things in all situations that just cannot be changed by us humans, like the size of a cancerous tumor, or the investigation of a crime, or what someone can or will do. But you can put these things down on a list of prayer requests. You can tell friends what to pray for. Some people you might want to tell more details than others. But I have found that if I make these lists it takes them off my mind and clears my mind to do more productive things. Make more lists even, lists of physical things I or others need to do, lists totally unrelated to the problems at hand which could help keep your mind calm. God is the one in control of everything. Click To Tweet He is the creator of the universe and each and every person in it.”

Some of you who have read my blog before know that I will be moving soon, down-sizing from our large family home since the kids are now grown and gone and moving in with my mother-in-law. We will have our own suite, a two car garage space that will be our living and bedroom. But we still don’t know when we will be moving since my husband’s company hasn’t told us if they will transfer him to a new store or if God will provide him with a new job. So much of our new life is still up in the air. I have made a few lists as all of this has been going on and only half of those things have been crossed off. But I see Him working in our lives despite the uncertainties. God is still good and HE IS ON MY SIDE NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES! Click To TweetI pray you will find this in your life also. God bless you, my friends.

#attitudeofgratitude space and sky

I thought I had posted this a week ago but aparently not. So here it is a week late: I have a few days of thankfulness to make up since I was on vacation. As I was telling you, this past week I spent time out of town on vacation. The difference between Washington state and Arizona is vast and wide space. In the Evergreen state we have trees, trees and lots of trees, evergreens and maples and pines too. But Arizona was mostly desert, dirt rocks, rock mountains and some green trees and shrubs. But we saw the most beautiful sunset ever. Most of the time, there was not a cloud in the sky, which was a big relief because this time of year, Washington skies are full of clouds and rain. But one evening, there were a few clouds and the sunset shining on those clouds made the most awesome colors in the sky. But here, see for yourself….

#attitudeofgratitude Music and musicians

After a wonderful praise and worship session at church yesterday I will give big thanks to God for music and musicians. We have a great group of people who sing and play at our church. God knew what He was doing when He gave us each a gift we could share with the world. If we all had the same gifts, or we all looked alike, the world would be a dull and dim place. But even though He created us in His own image, we are all different. And that makes the world weird, unusual and interesting.

The musicians help the audience to praise our God by sharing their gifts with others. they don’t keep it to themselves and hide it under a basket. They make and write beautiful music so others can tell God how much we love and thank Him for His love and faithfulness. God gave us each something we are good at to share it with others. I like to write. I write fiction and non-fiction. So that’s why I have this blog and why I wrote my Christian romance book, to share my love of God with others and hope it will touch someone as much as it has touched me. I hope you are finding things you are thankful for this month also. God bless you and keep you safe this holiday season.
